Mid-Level Environment Artist
BRB is looking for experienced and talented individuals to create exciting game environments for current and next-gen systems. Applicants will need to demonstrate a strong artistic ability, show a good understanding of form, function, detail, and the skill to interpret concept art, plus have the technical skills to push their work through a pipeline into a game engine. Flexibility between art styles is important, and of course you must have a passion for playing and making games! Responsibilities
- Modeling and texturing level terrain and game-ready assets for architectural and organic environments
- Taking a level from rough prototype to fully polished, complete with visually appealing compositions and “wow” moments
- Work closely with Designers and Programmers in creating fun and functional gameplay spaces
- Troubleshooting and maintaining levels for optimal frame rate, memory, and design specs
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum of 2 years game development experience modeling and texturing environments using Maya and ZBrush or comparable packages
- At least one current gen title shipped
- Ability to visualize and create compelling environments with minimal concept art
- Strong polygonal modeling skills – able to generate clean and efficient models quickly
- Strong skills in creating both photo-based and hand created textures
- Strong hi-res modeling and sculpting skills in ZBrush
- Smart use of texture space and modular meshes
- Good communication skills and ability to work with team members with the “big picture” in mind
- Schedule-focused, able to meet deadlines, and adjust to changes
- Good eye for color, strong shape, structure, and silhouette
Preference to applicants with:

LEAD PROGRAMMER (Handheld Platform) *NEW*

Summary:
Big Red Button is currently looking for a highly talented Lead Programmer to lead a small team on a project for portable gaming as well as console game systems. This individual should be able to lead a team of engineers, artists, and designers to execute the vision of the creative director. Responsibilities also include interfacing with the studio technical director and the other project lead developers to establish studio-wide systems and technology for current and next-generation game projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 5 years programming experience on low-level engine development
- Have lead and managed a production and technology team that produced a shipped title on current console or handheld platforms
- Hands on experience evaluating and using licensed engine technology to determine the best technical solution for a particular project
- Experience on commercial game engines such as Unreal, CryEngine, Havok, Infernal, as well as custom technology solutions.
- Experience of various game engine system, optimization algorithms/techniques
- Experience working with artists and designers directly in game production
- Experience in establishing tool development pipelines (asset pipeline, exporters, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communications and ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to all levels of engineering
- Creative lead who can work with the team to deliver the highest quality and technical excellence

- Leading a team of artists in delivering a top quality game efficiently and on schedule
- Managing a schedule and leading regular art reviews
- Mentoring more junior artists and giving frequent and constructive feedback
- Jumping into the trenches and taking on unforeseen tasks when necessary
